Rottnest Island is abuzz with Perth charter boats in the summer and there's only one place to get on and off and that is at the Thomson Bay Fuel Jetty. Time is limited to about 5 minutes as this is the main refuelling point for all boats at Rottnest.
The Thomson Bay Fuel Jetty is your launch pad to Rottnest Island. It is not a grand entrance or the one the ferries use, but it is an access point to this fabulous destination.
Rottnest Island is the only place that charges charter boats to access the island. If one of you steps on the sand, you all pay the higher "landing fee" for doing so. Currently this is an extra $19 per person (2020).
The Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) calls this a marine park entry fee, but then we all know, that speeding fines and not road entry fees either. They are taxes enforced with fines. And you have to pay them!
Please note that not all Perth charter boats can use this jetty as the channel is very shallow. This may be an issue at low tide.
