Karma IV - Rowley Shoals and Kimberley Fishing ( 11-Jun-2009 )

That's right, BlueSun2 is proud to announce that Karma IV will be fishing again at the Rowley Shoals in 2009 and 2010.

Due to popular demand, Karma IV is set to return to the Rowley Shoals in 2009 bringing joy to many fishermen that have been crying out for her return.

Karma IV has probably been filmed more than any other vessel at the Rowley Shoals which is unquestionably the undisputed game fishing capital of Western Australia.

Karma IV has just finished a 7-day television shoot in the Kimberley for Channel 9's 'Fishing Australia' so keep an eye out for the first of three new shows from mid June onwards. They promise to be compulsory viewing.

Only 8 trips will be offered a year, and places are selling out fast. You do not need to book the whole boat as we welcome individual fishermen or couples. Furthermore, we are going to do a special "Father and Son" fishing trip to the Rowley Shoals in November 2009 and 2010.

Boat Charter expansion for BlueSun2 ( 28-Apr-2009 )

BlueSun2 is already recognised as the premier charter boat agency in Western Australia. In the last 12 months it has been on a growth path. It has doubled the number of charter boats in its fleet to 75, and it has tripled its workforce. Today, however, the company made a new announcement that it is expanding even further by going international for the first time and opening an office in Bangkok, Thailand.

"I suppose we are a bit of fairy tale story," said company owner, Kevin Bailey. "But in reality our growth has always been planned with meticulous precision. International business has always been part of that planning process and Asia has been high on our agenda for a while."

Scheduled for opening in June 2009, the Bangkok office is part of BlueSun2's strategy to capture inbound business, becoming a forefront for marketing Australian tourism. This office will be responsible for marketing Australian product to the entire continent of Asia. The company is also planning to open satellite offices in the United Kingdom and the USA by the end of 2009.

"We have always been customer-focused and that has paid off," said Marketing Director, Matt Schlapfer. "We recognise the untapped opportunities the international markets pose and now we intend to capitalise on them. Charter boats have a lot to offer but they often fail to get their product into the right hands. BlueSun2 is on a path to change all of that."

"We are better placed than anyone in the charter boat world to do this," continued Schlapfer. "We have hands-on, working knowledge with all our products. We're not just selling brochure. We're selling products that we've experienced first hand."

Abrolhos Islands boat charters ( 16-Oct-2008 )

In 2009, BlueSun2 will be launching a series of ground-breaking boat charter holidays to the amazing marine wilderness of the Abrolhos Islands, where fun, sun and family pleasure are high on the agenda.

Fishing at the Abrolhos Islands is rated as some of the best fishing in the world, yet there is so much more to this incredible habitat that is teeming with coral gardens and birdlife, sealions and dolphins.

The pristine waters are perfect for diving and snorkelling at the Abrolhos Islands and when you think how there are more than 120 clusters of islands spread over 100 kilometres of ocean, you know that paradise awaits you.

With a commitment to offering much more inclusive boating experiences, BlueSun2's exciting new boat charter holidays to the Abrolhos Islands will promote:

  • Family-oriented holiday packages
  • Fishing - a strict 'catch and release' policy except for what can be eaten that day
  • Interactive education (snorkeling) - with an emphasis on conservation and experience
  • Specific 'Food and Wine' boat charters - "The WA Experience"
  • Western Australia as a holday destination - including history and education

Similar West Australian boat charter holiday packages are also being released, including to the Montebello Islands, Carnarvon, Exmouth and the Kimberley. Only vessels that are members of the Charter Boat Initiative of Western Australia will be promoted.

Dates and prices will be released shortly. For more information, please contact:

'Charter Boat Initiative' launched by BlueSun2 ( 26-Jul-2008 )

BlueSun2 has officially launched the Charter Boat Initiative, providing the West Australian charter boat industry with its first professional sales and marketing organisation.

This new entity has been specifically designed to drive new sales into the charter boat industry, whilst also acting as a powerful voice to protect the vested interests of owners and operators.

Conceived by Kevin Bailey, founder and managing director of BlueSun2, the Charter Boat Initiative is a bold approach to generating revenue by pooling resources and giving stakeholdes a say in their future.

"We are not trying to reinvent the wheel," said Bailey. "We are simply using tried and tested marketing techniques that work worldwide and applying them to our industry."

Many businesses do not have the know-how, sales force or budget to market themselves effectively and as such they fail to maximise their potential. But the Charter Boat Initiative has already started to address these industry problems.

"We take a small annual subscription fee from our clients and apply this to our marketing initiative," said Bailey. "All of a sudden they have a professional presence at interstate trade shows, plus they have a sales force on the road, and they are being pitched to a huge audience both corporate and private. Without the Charter Boat Initiative, many boat owners simply tap their fingers wating for their phones to ring, which often they don't."

The Charter Boat Initiative has received a huge response from the boating world. Bailey attributes this groundswell of support to the inaction of other tourism organisations and associations to promote their members professionally.

"People are flocking to us because there is huge disenchantment from within the charter boat industry," said Bailey. "Boats are paying for services that aren't being delivered and this cuts across the board from convention and vistior bureaus to government agencies and associations. No one seems to be getting business from these bodies, so why should they pay to be members?"

The Charter Boat Initiative recognises the collective value and strengths of all players in the industry. It is not an exclusive club or association and as such it is open to owners and operators as well as boat suppliers, equipment manufacturers, ground and air transportaion companies, accommodation providers, vessel employees, government agencies and tourism bodies. It will be marketing a broad range of charter boat businesses from day charter operators in Perth, to adventure and eco-tourism promoters, wildlife watching programs, diving and snorkelling vessels, fishing charters, luxury cruises and even houseboat rental companies.
